A fun holiday experience as well as sound computer education, many come again and again.

In small groups and short 55min sessions much is covered, then a break for drinks and computer games.

Presented at the level and experience of those attending. Children are “buddied up” alongside another of similar age and experience.

MINECRAFT: Introduction
Wood Puncher to Architect (3 days)


Prerequisite:
This course introduces you to the fun and creativity of Minecraft on PC or laptop.
On this course you will be able to discover new aspects of the game, not limited to but including:

  • Understand basic logic, use redstone to your advantage, create contraptions and make amazing games bases.

  • Learn more about construction: everything from a nice looking house, to a fully functional castle,

  • Learn how to move your world from computer to computer as well as play on the vast creations of other player’s worlds.

  • Learn to learn! We provide links, and resources for kids to learn themselves, from easy to watch video’s, to full technical articles.

  • Commands, LAN worlds, resource Packs, challenges, and many, many more!

MINECRAFT: Advanced - Architect to World Builder (2 days)

Prerequisite:
Minecraft Introduction, or have sufficient knowledge - talk with a tutor if you would like to clarify if you should attend this class or are able to progress to this level.

  • Ever thought of yourself as knowing everything about standard Minecraft? This course aims to challenge your belief.

  • More redstone! Go beyond simple circuits; learn about logic gates, all the way up to building real functioning computer parts using redstone.

  • Construction mastery: Go beyond basic building; learn how to create impregnable fortresses, siege warfare, multitudes of traps, as well as many more ideas!
  • Adventure maps: Learn how to put these skills together to make the ultimate challenge for you and your friends. Everything from parkour, to fully fledged mini games and adventures, all using Minecraft!
  • Advanced Commands, challenges, Map editing.
This course is designed to be played again and again, different experiences guaranteed!

MINECRAFT: Build your own MOD pack (2 Days)

Minecraft introduction or Advanced or have sufficient knowledge - talk with a tutor if you would like to clarify if you should attend one of these classes or are able to progress to this level.

  • Ever want to learn how all those resource packs are made? Ever just want to give those cows a Steve face! This course teaches you how to make Minecraft beautiful exactly how you like it.

  • Ever wonder how all those modpacks are made? Like to learn for yourself? This course teaches you how to use Minecraft Forge to customise your Minecraft experience exactly how you like it.
Ever wanted to play your own mods with friends? This course is for you!

MINECRAFT: Tekkit Basic (3 days)

Prerequisite:
Minecraft introduction or Advanced or have sufficient knowledge - talk with a tutor if you would like to clarify if you should attend one of these classes or are able to progress to this level.

  • Learn to play with some of the most popular mods out there! Bored of standard Minecraft? Learn to build factories, explore new lands, and fight new creatures Even fly to the moon!

  • This course introduces the technic platform, as well as the popular and Hexxit and Tekkit modpacks. We use a variety of challenges, learning exercises, and even a few puzzles.
So you can be both a veteran explorer, as well as the manager of vast sprawling industrial complexes!

MINECRAFT: Tekkit Advanced (3 days)

Prerequisite: Tekkit Basic
Attended a Minecraft introduction or Advanced or have sufficient knowledge - talk with a tutor if you would like to clarify if you should attend one of these classes or are able to progress to this level.

  • Covers more advanced material of the mod packs using mod challenges and objectives.

  • Cover at least three different mod packs.

  • We provide resources for students to learn for themselves, e.g. wiki ’s, videos.

  • We use prebuilt challenges.

MINECRAFT: Introduction to Servers (2 Days)

Prerequisite:
Attended a Minecraft introduction or Advanced or have sufficient knowledge - talk with a tutor if you would like to clarify if you should attend one of these classes or are able to progress to this level.

  • For those that have no experience on large bukkit etc servers.

  • Covers operation of plugins from in game, no out of game server work. Includes economy, construction, pvp, etc plugins on pre-prepared server files.

  • Covers differences between unmodified, and modified servers (Plugin additions, NOT forge)




MINECRAFT: Server Basics (3 days)

Prerequisite:
Attended a Minecraft introduction or Advanced or have sufficient knowledge - talk with a tutor if you would like to clarify if you should attend one of these classes or are able to progress to this level.

  • This course covers everything to do with actually running a server.

  • Bukkit & vanilla servers

  • Installing and configuring plugins basic’s off a predetermined list.

  • Includes Admin level commands.

  • Involves about a third in game testing, a third learning how to operate servers, and a third theoretical work, from discussing server operation and ideas as a group; to instituting rules, policies and procedures

  • 3 Days $275 each extra child $15 less


Create 3D Games & Learn To Program

Create a labyrinth of rooms in a range of finishes, with water or lava below, sky above and outdoor scenes. Add internal and external lighting to give a great effect.

Add doors, elevators, tele-porters and program them to operate with the correct keys.

Add a player, enemies, guns, health packs and other entities. Make your own start, win and lose screens and create a multi level game.

Learn how to create and skin your own 3D models and place them in the game.

Games are made from template scripts, level 2 of the creating games course involves learning how to modify these scripts to create a more advanced game.

Move advanced students may be able to start level 2 of the course towards the end of the week.

Understand the principles, practices and terminology behind programming languages. Program in easy to learn QBasic. Program a typing tutor and dice throwing game.

A Discovery Course in Computing

Begin a voyage of discovery that you can further each holidays:
- Discover the different areas of computing;
- Find out what is best for you;
- Find answers to any questions you may have;
This course covers aspects from all of the classes

Create GIF and Gimp animations, use PowerPoint as an artist brush, create animated presentations.

Discover how to create 3D Games, design a web page and learn how to build and program a computer, make a film and edit the video.

Essential Computer Skills

An excellent course to learn computer skills that will make school easier and give you an edge. Create GIF animations - it’s fun, enjoyable and a powerful learning experience.

From Introduction to advanced sessions in Word, PowerPoint and Excel. A lesson shows how to use PowerPoint as an artist’s brush. Photos are taken to make ID cards and animated PowerPoint photo presentations.

Learn to Program - Introduction

Python and Java are the two most used programming languages. In this class students will understand the principles and terminology behind all programming languages. No programming experience required.

Day 1 learn to program in Python. On day 2 the same programming concepts are covered using Java - in half a day. Both languages are taken further in the final day and a half.

Learn how to get input, what string and non-string variables are, how to store and compare variables, perform calculations and display results. Understand random numbers, integers, loops, counters, decisions, subroutines, concatenation, screen positioning, formatting input and read and write files to disk.

Learn To Program - Intermediate

Create your own 2D platformer game. Create the level layout, add the player, enemies and other entities. Customise their behaviours and create their graphics.


This course will be focused more on writing code at a "high level". This means that you will not have to do the lower level details (such as creating the basic functionality of all the individual components). Instead, in this course we will use libraries (other people's code) to allow us to get straight into creating the game.


Prerequisites:It is recommended those attending this course have attended the "Learn to Program - Introduction" course or have prior experience with programming in Java.

Web Design - using HTML, CSS and bootstrap

No previous experience is necessary and it’s fun. Build web pages designed to work well on mobiles. Use graphics programs and create animations. Learn to use HTML, CSS and bootstrap to make a truly responsive website. Link to youtube, twitter and facebook.

Film Making and Video Editing

Learn in a fun inventive way to generate Ideas, develop a story, create a storyboard, break it into scenes and shots and plan a shoot.

Learn to set up and use a camera and tripod, types of shots, how to frame, compose.

Then use computer video editing to add sound, transitions, titles and credits.

Finally publish as a finished movie to youtube.

Build Your Own Computer

Learn the parts, terminology and principles involved to build or upgrade a computer. Computers are supplied to pull apart. Learn to assemble the motherboard, CPU, RAM, add cards and disk drives, set slave and master drives as well as learning how to install an operating system (i.e. Windows).

Intermediate & Advanced Workshops

Great for those who have been before and those who know a lot. Courses are enjoyable and loads of fun!

Sessions are run on student's areas of interest including building and upgrading computers, web design, graphics and animations, making 3D games, databases and programming, networking computers, running a web site, video editing and movie making.

This course is a great way to improve your skills and really become proficient with a range of programs.

After School Computer Classes

These classes are a great way to upskill and become really proficient with arange of programs.

Suitable for those wanting to get ahead, those wanting to catch up and others purely interested in discovering what is available.

Small group size allows more individual tuition. Children are "buddied up" with another of similar age and experience.

Course content is adjusted for the experience and learning abilities of those attending. From introduction to advanced and from ages 5 to 17.

Sessions may be run on web design, graphics, animations, an artist’s use of PowerPoint, Photoshop, video editing, creating games, programming, Access and databases, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, networking, building and upgrading computers, how to host your own web sites. Also available is exam preparation.


After school class sessions; 1hr @ $20, 1½ hr @ $30. After school private sessions; 1hr @ $40, 1½ ;hr @ $50.


Saturday 3 hour Computer Class

These classes are a great way to upskill and become really proficient with a range of programs.

Suitable for those wanting to get ahead, those wanting to catch up and others purely interested in discovering what is available.

Small group size allows more individual tuition. Children are "buddied up" with another of similar age and experience.

Course content is adjusted for the experience and learning abilities of those attending. From introduction to advanced and from ages 5 to 17.

Generally the first session is on one topic of interest, then a drink and PC game break, and the second session on another topic of interest

Sessions may be run on web design, graphics, animations, an artist’s use of PowerPoint, Photoshop, video editing, creating games, programming, Access and databases, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, networking, building and upgrading computers, how to host your own web sites. Also available is exam preparation.
